Below are answers to some Frequently Asked Questions

What is McCormick Consumer Testing?

McCormick Consumer Testing uses the honest opinions of consumers, like yourself, to guide the development process of McCormick brand products sold in retailers and used in restaurant and commercial settings.

How does it work?

If you match the demographic background for an upcoming consumer test then our automated recruitment system will send you an e-mail inviting you to answer additional questions to confirm whether or not you qualify for that particular test. The demographic eligibility is determined by a combination of the information you supplied during the sign-up process as well as your responses to the study questionnaire.

How will I be contacted?

You will receive e-mail notifications from our automated recruitment system.

When you receive an e-mail invitation, it will include a link to our Panelist portal https://mccormickconsumertesting.at-hand.net/tqm/login.aspx. Once you log onto our website (using your email address and the password you created), you will read the "Terms" of participation. Once you select "I Accept", you will then go to the next screen that will provide you with information regarding studies we are currently recruiting for.

The opening announcement of each questionnaire will provide details of the test including the date, session length and compensation. After completing the questionnaire, the system will determine whether or not you qualify for that test. If you do not qualify for the test, fear not, you will still be contacted in the future for other opportunities. If you qualify, you will be provided with the available session times. You can then choose the one session, if any, which best suits you. If you are not available to attend, we recommend that you select the option to DECLINE which lets our system know not to contact you again for that particular test. Selecting DECLINE will not affect your ability to be contacted for future consumer testing opportunities.

Tests often fill quickly, so it is recommended that you respond as soon as possible.

Do I have to wait for McCormick to contact me?

No, in fact we encourage you to log onto our Panelist portal to see if there are available studies for you. The system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How often can I participate?

The frequency of requests for Home Use Tests and Internet Surveys vary. We typically run 5 to 10 Home Use Tests per year so it could be a while before you are contacted about an upcoming opportunity. You can expect to be invited to participate in an Internet Survey at least once every 2-3 months.

Do you have in-person tests?

Yes, we offer in-person tests 2-4 times a week at our facilities. Those interested and near the Hunt Valley, Maryland area can indicate their interest on the application when applying to become a panelist.

What if I'm not able to travel to Hunt Valley, Maryland?

You are still welcome to join our database of nationwide consumers to participate in Home Use Tests, Focus Groups, and Internet surveys.

Am I compensated for my time?

Yes! The compensation for each in-person test varies from $30 to $100. Compensation for tests done in your home typically ranges from $10 to $15. The amount of compensation is determined by the duration of the study and the number of products tested. Consumers have the option to receive a mobile deposit through Zelle or an Amazon.com gift card for their participation in a study. Prize drawings are held for Internet surveys to win Amazon.com gift cards. To learn how Zelle works, click here.
